Swan Lake, one of the most beloved ballets of all time, comes to Mobile Civic Theatre an original new production. The one-night-only performance is part of World Ballet Series ongoing 2023-2024 U.S. tour.
Brought to life by an exceptional, multinational ensemble of 50 dancers, Swan Lake features vivid hand-painted sets, detailed hand-crafted costumes, rich story telling, and Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable music, which will be performed live by Pensacola Symphony Orchestra with Vadim Nikitin as conductor. The production features Marius Petipa’s original choreography, lovingly retouched by Nadezhda Kalinina. Sergey Novikov is the scenic and costume designer, with special effects and makeup designed by Irina Strukova.
World Ballet Series’ Swan Lake is produced by Gorskaya-Hartwick Productions.
Based in Los Angeles, Gorskaya-Hartwick Productions is led by Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwick, who have created, produced, and toured original productions of some of the world’s most cherished ballets as part of World Ballet Series.
Through their work, Gorskaya and Hartwick aim to develop the ballet audiences of tomorrow and ensure that the whole country has access to the art form. To date, World Ballet Series has travelled to more than 280 cities reaching an audience of more than 250,000, many of whom are first time attendees to a ballet.
Now in its 98th season, the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra continues to share transformative musical experiences through performances with world-renowned artists. In addition to enlivened concert performances and collaborations, the orchestra’s “Beyond the Stage” program brings musical experiences to the community in settings that include schools, retirement communities, health care facilities, and galleries.
Experience the legendary Swan Lake, the ballet of all ballets, will be performed one night only as a part of the World Ballet Series. See the iconic Dance of the Little Swans, count the 32 fouettés performed by Odile and immerse yourself in magical Tchaikovsky's music.
The production will be performed with a live orchestra and feature richly detailed, hand-painted sets as well as over 150 radiant costumes that bring fresh representation to this timeless classic.
