MOBILE, Ala. – Delta Resource Educational Association of Mobile, Inc. (D.R.E.A.M.) will host Collage Dance Collective, a world-class ballet collective showcasing a repertoire of relevant choreography and a dynamic group of classically trained dancers from around the world. Collage Dance Collective will perform at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at the Mobile Civic Center Theater in downtown Mobile.
Collage Dance Collective will present a master class at Davidson High School for advanced dance students of Mobile County Public School System on Tuesday, October 18th, followed by a special demonstration and lecture on Wednesday morning, October 19th, for students from the greater Mobile area.
The event is being presented by D.R.E.A.M., a non-profit 501(c)3 philanthropic organization that provides financial support to strengthen community programs provided by non-profit agencies with similar missions.
After presenting eleven seasons of emotionally evocative performances to local and international audiences and cultivating a love of dance in thousands of students, Collage Dance Collective remains at the national forefront of inspiring the growth and diversity of ballet. Collage Dance Collective’s founders established the professional dance company in New York City in 2006 in response to the ballet industry’s lack of racial diversity on stage.
Collage Dance Collective presents a diverse range of classical and contemporary choreography. In addition to Artistic Director, Kevin Thomas, the company’s repertory includes works by Nicolo Fonte, Dwight Rhoden, Kevin Iega Jeff, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Sir Frederick Ashton, Camille A. Brown, Joshua Manculich and Amy Hall Garner.
We invite you to join us as we celebrate the art of dance as a means of providing artistic and cultural opportunities to the youth of our community.
This program is funded, in part, by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Alabama State Council on the Arts. The event’s sponsors include the Mobile County Commission, Regions Bank, PNC Bank, City of Mobile, First Bank, D.R.E.A.M. Foundation, and Mobile Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
The core mission of D.R.E.A.M. is to provide social and educational programs to underserved communities in the Mobile area. The foundation maintains a commitment to The Delta Academy and Delta GEMS, which provide mentoring resources for young girls.
